Some of the coolest shit is also the briefest lived. More Pain was a thing and then it wasn’t, like in the same furious, relentless speed-charge as its three-song EP. Or was it ever a thing? What differentiates a “band” from a “project”? What lives or happens or exists in the middle-ground between a one-off MORE…
Some Girls – Heaven’s Pregnant Teens LP vinyl variant reissue With “Heaven’s Pregnant Teens,” Some Girls’ only official full-length release, the group honed its white-knuckled assault down to 25 minutes of unrelenting musical psychosis while adding new dimensions of brutality to their now-trademark thrash attack. Throughout the album’s thirteen tracks, complex time changes invert riffs MORE…
As destructive as they are innovative, the Locust – San Diego’s boundary-crushing merchants of abrasive, noisy, synth-infused grind-punk – sets the hazmat meter on high and expands its sound on New Erections. Praised by The L.A. Weekly for “creating a new, more dangerous paradigm for punk” this resourceful foursome builds on that belief with the MORE…
Whenever I’m set to board a flight, I feel like writing my will and calling those I love to say goodbye. Two days ago, I watched the news on my phone while I ate dinner alone in the farmhouse. It was Russian invasion coverage, war crimes, NATO talks, then analysis on the confirmation hearing of MORE…
The scariest show I’ve ever been to (the only scary show I’ve been to) was Cattle Decapitation somewhere around the time of this album’s 1999 release. (Note: a remastered version was reissued by Three One G the first year of the pandemic. You should buy a copy.) The show was at the Che Café in MORE…
Three One G has teamed up with our comrade Tommy Wilson on a limited edition t-shirt design. Some may call the message nihilistic, but we look at it like a paradigm shift in the broader sense of art. Either way, the design is great and holds onto the true Three One G aesthetic. These shirts MORE…
Note: this is an excerpt from Adam Gnade’s novella Locust House, released six years ago today by Three One G and Pioneers Press Chapter 1, The Adventures of Agnes McCanty Looking back, Agnes McCanty would come to see March 29th, 2002 as a day broken into three stages: 1) Standing at the gravesite of Michael MORE…
The concept of Cult and Culture began as a short segment created by Justin Pearson, an internationally known musician, record label owner (Three One G Records), author, and actor. He is best known as bassist/vocalist for bands such as Dead Cross, The Locust, and Retox. Justin has come to know and work with a broad MORE…
I’ve got the farmhouse to myself for a few days. It’s very quiet now. NPR news in the morning after farm chores while I clean up last night’s dinner and run a load of laundry then feed the housecats. Emails, texts returned, and I sit down and work on book edits. I give myself three MORE…
“You think we’re alone in this. You’re wrong.” In the spirit of Adam’s other works such as “AMERICANS,” “Greater Mythology Blues,” and “Locust House” (of which this piece is a prequel to), his latest collaboration with Planet B offers some sense of hope in the face of a shitstorm– gentle reminders of the innocence we MORE…
