Das Oath’s self-titled CD-EP came out 17 years ago today via this very label. In celebration of good things born, here’s a list of things this record is not. 1) Bro hardcore shit 2) Boring. 3) Sleepy. Lifeless. Phoning-it-in. Nope. 4) American. Vocalist Mark McCoy was born in Cuba. The rest of the band is MORE…

That night after the reading we’re in a country bar down by the river and the bartender is buying our drinks. Why, we’re not sure, but it’s tequila sunrise after tequila sunrise and I’ve fed ten bucks into the jukebox to play every version of “Carmelita” in a row then every Townes song they’ve got. MORE…

I’ve heard it said your mind is at its best when you are in a new place. Dropped suddenly in a new town, a new city, you see your surroundings with fresh eyes. Your memory is stronger. You are alert to all stimulus and sensory information. Maybe this is because instinctually you know you are MORE…

I’m not ready to go to shows yet. Maybe it’s the vaccination rates in this part of the world (absolute shit) or the fact that Midwest people get militant about their “freedom.” Maybe I’m just spooked after a year and a half of not wanting to die. Either way, been thinking a lot about shows MORE…

Lil’ Cassidy Nguyen disappeared one day. No calls. No emails. Our friends talked about it incessantly. “Incessantly” is a strong word, a word that leans toward exaggeration, but incessantly is the best way to explain it. Cassidy’s brother Duong filed a missing person’s report three days after she vanished. He called the cops. None of MORE…
